Proud Home of the WILDCATS
Wilmington Middle School

Our School

Welcome to Wilmington Middle School. It is our privilege and pleasure to educate 6th through 8th grade students in Wilmington, IL. An hour south of Chicago, our community offers a unique blend of suburban and rural life, while supporting our students in academics, athletics, and the arts.

While at Wilmington, your children will work to master content area standards, discover new interests through our fine and technical art electives and exploratory classes, and have the opportunity to participate in intramural sports.

WMS Mission Statement

The mission of Wilmington Middle School is to provide a positive, caring learning environment in which each student has the opportunity to develop academically, personally, and socially through the combined efforts of the school, family, and community.

Our Curriculum

Wilmington CUSD has implemented the Common Core State Standards adopted by the state of Illinois in 2010. These standards establish clear expectations for what students should learn in language arts and math. The standards are in place to ensure that students in every situation have the information they need to prepare for success in college and career.

We have been working steadily to align our curriculum to the standards; however, we understand that standards will never replace good teaching. Our teachers continue to have the freedom to tailor their lessons to address the individual needs of their students and help them apply knowledge to real-world situations.
